Book Review: “Simon vs.The Homo Sapiens Agenda” by Becky Albertalli

I finished the book in two days, I just couldn’t stop reading. This hasn’t happened to me since the Harry Potter series, everything just felt so right in the story. I fell in love with the characters and cherished their adventures. Thank you so much Becky Albertalli for this amazing novel and I am so sorry that they made such a terrible movie, which I’ll review in another entry.

“Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda” isn’t your typical love tale, it’s about a young boy, Simon, who is dealing with his sexuality during his teen age years and finds out that some other kid, AKA Blue, has the same issues that he is going through.  They begin their relationship via email, writing down all their day to day experiences, and more stuff that you need to read. “The point is that the more you dig in into the story, the more you empathize with both of them, it’s truly an incredible experience”. I don’t wan’t to spoil anything else for you, I really really recommend you read it now!

I think that the author’s narrative is so well structured that keeps the reader going from start to finish. Every single word is valuable to the main idea and they feed more into to the characters personalities and backstories; delivering one of the most satisfying endings I’ve read in years. So, once again Ms. Albertalli, you left a very special feeling in my heart, I can’t thank you enough.

  1. Aw, I read the book and I’ve been wanting to see the movie. If you end up writing a film review, I’d be curious to know why you thought it sucked (although I’ll probably end up watching it anyway, because I might have a different opinion.) 🙂

    1. Hey, thank you for stopping by! My movie review is ready! I’m sorry if you find it a little bit to harsh, It’s just the way it made me feel. I hope that you like it as much as you loved the Book. Saddly, it wasn’t for me. 😢
